Why Micro+Shading ?

Having thin, uneven, or patchy eyebrows can be challenging. Spending countless hours in front the mirror with your pencil & cotton swab, frustrated trying to get them even is just 🤬 GRRR❗️  🤯

Micro+Shading at STUDIO Face & Body can be a life changing moment . Let Micro+Shading put an end to this vicious cycle and finally liberate you from the chains of imperfect brows!

WHAT IS MICRO+SHADING ?

Micro+Shading is a form of a cosmetic semi-permanent makeup performed using, a manual (not a machine) disposable handheld tools, composed with very fine needles resembling the shape of a blade (what we call a microblade), to hand draw each individual hair and simultaneously implant the pigment into the skin to mimic naturally growing hair. A manual shading needle is then used to shade the brow in various techniques, each specifically chosen for your brow needs.

HOW IS MICRO+SHADING DONE ?

Each new hair stroke that is meant to simulate the guests natural eyebrows hair and seamlessly blend it with the guests existing brows and shade to add color and fullness resulting in a very natural look. Our microblading ensures that we design a customized shape, look, and feel that complements your face and your personality. With our experienced  Artists at the helm, the results will be gorgeous yet undetectable

WHO IS MICRO+SHADING FOR ?

Micro+Shading is an ideal solution for guests who have patchy, thin, or uneven eyebrows and are looking for the most natural looking results. However, not everyone is a candidate for Micro+Shading and there are different elements to consider such as skin condition and health. Micro+Shading is most suitable for guests with normal skin. Oil in the skin can cause the Microblading portion of the Micro+Shading hair-stroke to expand and blur so the less oily the guests skin is, the better the result would be. At STUDIO Face & Body, we have very strict guidelines that we follow to decide who is a good candidate for microblading & Micro+Shading and who should avoid.

ARE THERE DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES AND APPROACHES TO MICRO+SHADING ?

Yes, there are way more than a few different approaches to Micro+Shading and are based on what exactly you will need to achieve your goal. nothing cookie cutter here, each and every guest that walks into my studio comes with a different challenge and each leaves with their own look.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED FOR A NEW SET OF MICRO+SHADED EYEBROWS?

A new set of Micro+Shaded eyebrows takes two appointments to complete on average, however in some cases we need up to 3 sessions & an additional cost of $75 for these scenarios do apple. The technique and art of Micro+Shading is very delicate and for this reason we needs two visits to ensure that all the strokes & shading is evenly saturated with pigment. The second appointment is called a Perfecting session and takes place 4 to 6 weeks after the initial appointment after the pigment settles into the skin. In this Perfecting session, I make any needed adjustments and ensures each hair-stroke has even color.

HOW DO I MAINTAIN MY NEW MICRO+SHADED EYEBROWS?

I recommend yearly Refreshers @ $150 per yearly Refresher, after the initial Perfecting Session, to maintain the crispness and freshness of the color. Natural fading occurs from external factors such as exposure to the sun as well as internal factors such as the gradual break down of pigments as your body metabolizes it out of your system. Everyone can experience the fading process differently and it really comes down to skin type and lifestyle. Cost of refreshers go's up the more time and fading passes. See "Refreshers" under the Brows section for pricing.

IS MICRO+SHADING & PMU PAINFUL?

YES! IT SUCKS! But this is why we numb you first.

Most of our guests report little or no pain, often they say it's a 3 on a scale of 1 to 10, at most. Some guests have literally slept through the appointment! But this is because we leave a topical anesthetic on the area being treated for 20-30 minutes before we begin the process, so this leaves most guests completely numb & comfortable during the beginning of your  procedure. During your procedure I will have anesthetizing liquid to pass over the area to keep you numb and comfortable.

Can I get Micro+Shading while I’m pregnant?"

Our policy is we do not perform MICRO+SHADING or PMU during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. This is my policy and I will not break it for any reason. This is the policy for most PMY & Tattoo Artists.

There is very little scientific, medical research on tattoo ink and pregnancy. Even tho pigments I use are mineral and plant based, some correction pigments have iron and titanium Oxides in them due to the specific nature needed in corrections.  Until there is clarity on the subject from medical professionals and my own conches as a human being, my policy remains no for you and baby's safety. I will be more than happy to see you and plenty of baby photos once baby is off breastmilk.

Is Micro+Shading the same as eyebrow tattooing?

1. Micro+Shading is hand draw, each line manually. Eyebrow tattooing uses a machine.

This makes a big difference. Micro+Shading features very fine lines and when applied by a skilled artist, those lines do not “bleed out” over time, (  as long as all Micro+Shading guidelines are met. )  Not true of traditional eyebrow tattooing. ( NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH NEW TECHNIQUES CALLED PMU. )  Eyebrow tattooing or “ nano-brow,” is usually done by a machine, with much greater injury to the skin. The lines created are not as fine and over time begin to bleed out. If you’ve ever seen someone tattoo handwriting on their skin, only to see the writing get thicker over the years, then you know the effect.

2. MICRO+SHADING has different retention.

The fine lines of Micro+Shading often fade over time. For many, they fade over 1 to 3 years. With Micro+Shading, there is physically less ink deposited under the skin. In the dermis, where the ink is placed, this ink can move around over time, giving a slighter appearance. When there is a lot of ink, like in traditional tattooing, the tattoo remains very consistent, often expanding. With Micro+Shading, the ink will fade or disappear, depending on the skin type and how much ink was inserted.

3. MICRO+SHADING inks maintain their color better.

Micro+Shading does not use traditional tattoo ink. We use a different kind of ink that maintains its original hue over time. Many Tattooed guests report that their tattoo brows turn blue or brown over time. With Micro+Shading, however, colors tend to get lighter due to the mineral based pigment, rather than changing hue from iron-oxide pigments.

4. MICRO+SHADING is less painful. (And many consider it painless.)

I use topical anesthetic, which numbs most guests and keeps them comfortable from pain. In fact, many Micro+Shading guests report little or no pain. Some people fear traditional tattoos on certain parts of their body because of the pain, but this is typically not a inhibiting factor for Micro+Shading guests.

5. Results from MICRO+SHADING are more natural than traditional eyebrow tattoos.

Each hairstroke is hand drawn in microblading. To the naked eye, these individual hair-strokes blend right in with your real hair and/or creating a brow due to hairless.

6. MICRO+SHADING artists are not necessarily tattoo artists and vice versa!

Micro+Shading / PMU and tattooing each take specific training and are not linked! Micro+Shading & PMU artists do not learn how to tattoo during their training and likewise, tattoo artists do not necessarily learn the skills necessary to become a Micro+Shading artist. For the noted differences, tattooing and Micro+Shading are each separate artforms that take their own time and training to master. (That said, great tattoo artists, with proper training in the art of Micro+Shading, would make excellent Micro+Shading artists) Both Tattoo & Microblading / PMU Artists are REQUIRED to hold and maintain a Connecticut Tattoo License. My License # is 475
